Lisbon Metro will be open until 4 am on New Year’s Eve. Company warns that lead times may be longer than normal due to expected demand.

The Lisbon Metropolitan announced this Monday that on New Year’s Eve it will operate until 04:00 on the Blue and Green lines, keeping several stations open to support the festivities that will take place in the city.
The stations that will be open on the Blue line are Reboleira, Amadora Este, Pontinha, Military College, Zoo, São Sebastião I, Marquês de Pombal I, Restauradores and Baixa Chiado.
In the Green line, will be open the stations of Telheiras, Campo Grande, Areeiro, Alameda I, Angels, Rossio, Baixa Chiado and Cais do Sodré.
“Due to the celebrations scheduled for Praça do Comércio, the Terreiro do Paço station (Blue line) closes at 18:00 on December 31, reopening at 06:30 on January 01. As an alternative to the Terreiro do Paço station, the Cais do Sodré or Baixa Chiado (Green Line) stations may be used, which will be open until 4:00 pm from December 31 to January 1, ”the company said in a statement.
The Metropolitano de Lisboa also clarifies that the new tariff will only be applied from 06:30 on 01 January, opening time to the public of the service.
“Given the expected high demand, waiting times may be longer than usual, on the night of December 31 to January 1,” he concludes.
