Covid-19: Portugal registers four deaths and 192 cases in the last 24 hours,

LISBON.

Portugal accounts for four more deaths and 192 new cases of covid-19 in the last 24 hours, according to the bulletin of the Directorate-General for Health, released this Tuesday.

In total, the pandemic has already infected 55,912 people in Portugal, of whom 1,805 died.

The region of Lisbon and Vale do Tejo registered the most new cases in the last 24 hours, with 116 infections confirmed, accounting for 28,932 cases.

Three of the four deaths occurred in the region of Lisbon and Vale do Tejo, which now totals 652 deaths, and one in the North, which accounts for 846 deaths and 20,021 cases (another 49 in the last 24 hours).

The Centro region has 4,677 confirmed cases (plus eight), the Algarve 1,039 (plus five), and the Alentejo has 898 (plus 11). None of these regions recorded any new deaths from covid-19.

In the Azores, two more cases were registered in the last 24 hours and in Madeira, one more case.

The Azores total 204 cases since the beginning of the pandemic and 15 deaths, and Madeira 141 cases and no deaths from covid-19.

According to the bulletin, there were 141 more recovered patients, totaling 41,021 recovery cases.

The DGS also indicates that there are four more patients hospitalized, totaling 325, and three fewer in intensive care (41) compared to Monday.

Confirmed cases are distributed across all age groups, with 40 to 49 years of age having the most infections, accounting for a total of 9,230, followed by the age group between 30 and 39 years, with 9,183 cases, and between 20 and 29 years old, with 8,700.

The data also indicates that there were 25,151 men and 30,761 women infected since the beginning of the pandemic.

Of the total number of fatalities, 910 are men and 895 are women.

The largest number of deaths is concentrated in people over 80 years old, with 1,204 deaths registered since the beginning of the pandemic, followed by the groups between 70 and 79 years old (356).

Three of the deaths recorded in the last 24 hours were from people aged 70 to 79 years old and the other from a person over 80 years old.

Health authorities have 33,821 people under surveillance (567 fewer than the day before).
